What a clutch!!

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 22:01:48

Can you believe it after a couple of weeks on tenterhooks Moulder finally laid though out the day yesterday. She has always been a small snake and as such has only ever produced about 11-12 eggs per clutch, however she amazed us all when she had finally finished laying there were 20 eggs. That is a record for me as a breeder as well as for her. They all seem to be fine but I'm expecting to lose a few, Moulder on the other hand is having a well deserved rest. As well as Moulder laying Spotty laid her 4th clutch of 2 eggs yesterday as well

New addition

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 22:00:36

Today we took deliver of a new female leopard gecko she is from homegrowngekko.com and is an abberant tangerine. Lovely little thing and about a year old and weighs in at a good 59g, she will be going in with tang shortly and you never know we may have eggs this season.

New member of the family

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:59:42

We now have a new member to our family. Her name is Banana and she is a Blizzard phase Leopard gecko. She has settled in well and has just been put in with our male Herman. I'm hoping that they will mate but we will have to wait and see although it does look like Banana could be carrying eggs from a previous mate (she was in a colony until we got her). So watch this space to see if she does indeed lay.

Hacthlings hurray!

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:58:46

Well all 15 hatchlings have hatched and shed so I can at last see what I've got, and at the moment it looks like we have a possible candy cane, a couple of reverse okeetee's and reverse okeetee motleys as well as amels het motley and amels

Don't count your geckos before they hatch

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:57:43

Well we are down to just 4 gecko eggs in the incubator now. Sadly we have lost all but 1 of dottys eggs and it looks like that one is unfertile as well but we will have to wait and see, on the other hand though out of the 6 eggs that spotty has laid we have had 2 hatch and 3 are still going good, we have only lost one of hers. So here's hoping her next clutch will be ok as well as she is currently gravid and I'm expecting them anytime between now and the 2nd week in May.

First clutch of snakes hatched

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:56:48

Our 1st clutch of snake eggs started hatching on the 19th with this first one coming out of their egg on the 20th. Unfortunately only 15 of the 19 original eggs hatched but that's still good going. The babies are all doing fine and have now all been housed separately in hatchling tubs. It looks like we have a good mix of morphs as well as at the moment it looks as though we may have amels, amel motleys, candy canes, and even some reverse okeetee, but until they have had their first shed I will reserve judgement on the morphs.

First Geckos Hatch

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:55:37

Our first 2 leopard gecko eggs have hatched during the early hours of the 15th April 2007. They are looking good and measure approximately 2.5ins including tail. At the moment they have the typical black and yellow banding on the body with the typical white an black banding on the tail. These 2 babies will be ready to go on the 27th May as long as they are eating fine and shedding ok.

Egg's Galore

by viper183 @ 2007-10-27 - 21:54:21

Will here we go, my first post on my blogger.
As a reptile breeder i'm always excited about my reptiles laying eggs but this year the excitment has started early for me.
With this being the first time i have bred lizards i wasn't completely sure what to expect or when but as luck would have it my first 2 lizard eggs arrived on the 16th Febuary and are currently incubating and since then it has been all go with another 2 eggs arriving on the 3rd March and again on the 14th March. These eggs are Leopard gecko eggs are all 6 have the same father Busta but 4 belong to Spotty and the other 2 belong to Dotty.
Then to top off the gecko eggs i had an unexpected arrival of 19 Corn Snake eggs arrive on the 22nd Febuary.
So as you can see it's been busy, all i have to do now is wait for them to hatch which should start around the 21st April.
Well i hope you found this a good read.
