We have had a total of just over 20 Corn snake eggs and about 8-10 sucessful gecko eggs. Hopefully next year will be a better one for us.
Now for some news relating to whos here and not. First up our Female Hypo Corn Rose has sadly passed away, and our Female Cremiscle Corn Sunny has been rehomed.
However we has since rehomed ourselves a 4yr old Female Bearded Dragon named Jazz and a 4yr old Male Yemen Chameleon named Frank niether of these will be used breeding they will purely be just other members of the family.Pictures of both the new arrivals will be on the site soon.
As far as our Royal python project is going we have a pair of het pieds we are picking up at the end of the month as well as a year old male pastel that we are hopefully getting in the next couple of weeks.
All new arrivals will have their pictures taken and added to the site once they have settled in.
We also kept 2 of the baby Leopard Geckos from this years clutch and are just waiting to give them names and take some pictures of them to add them to the site.
Well thats about it for now.
They have ended up being snows, amels and red candy canes. I also have 8 hatchling geckos 1 from Spotty and the other 7 from Candy so 7 tangerine phase. YIPPEE!!.
The water Dragon eggs failed unfortunately but theres always next year.
Now for the last piece of news really, we have decided that after 8-9 years of breeding Corn Snakes it istime to move on, we will still be breeding them for the next couple of years but we are starting to sell some on and eventually will probably only have a couple of pairs.
We have now decided to condentrate on breeding Royal pythons and to that affect we have got a deposit on a pair of 100% het piebald Royals and will be looking at adding to the royal collection over the next year.
Well thats it for now thanks for reading.

I do apologise for the long gap in between my posts of late but i have a lot of personal stuff going on at the moment so haven't really been as focused on the site as i should of been.
Well since my last post as suspected our Female Water Dragon laid 6 eggs pictures of which are on the blog gallery page of the site, i have also had 5 Leopards Geckos hatch 2 of which are going tomorrow, i've also had 4 more Gecko eggs laid as well as finding one of my Female Corns laying her eggs this morning.
I don't know how many there are yet but on last count there were 12. Hopefully she'll be finished soon and i'll be able to move them and see exactly how many there are.
The Snow Phase Kingsnake has now been rehomed, we felt that with everything else going on we couldn't give it the attention it needed so it has been rehomed.
We have also lost yet another Corn Snake, Moulder one of our older females (approx 7-8yrs old) has passed. Nothing sinister going on thankfully just appears to be old age. The vet couldn't find anything.
We have decided now though that we are going to concentrate for the time being on replenishing the ranks with some new babies of different colours.
And finally 2 of the 3 royals we have decided to finally eat something last week their first feed since October.

 Comments

Latest news

Well the latest news isn't really the latest as i haven't posted for a while. The Leopard Geckos are producing eggs every month but for some reason this year the eggs aren't doing so well, out of 16 eggs laid only 5 are incubating the rest have failed, at least the 5 still in incubation are looking good.
Other news is that my Female Water dragon is gravid and digging around her egg laying box so hopefully by the end of this week possibly next we should have some Water Dragon eggs in incubation.
Still no sign of any Corn snake eggs although one of my females has looked a little gravid and this week refused to feed and is now coming into shed so watch this space, there may be a clutch on it's way yet.
We have also got 3 new members to the family they consist of an Male Amber Corn, A female Colombian Rainbow Boa and an unsexed Snow phase Californian King snake. The king and boa have come from my brother in law as they are emigrating and can't take them with them. The boa is 4.5ft long weighs 1.5kg and has been named Ripple, the King hasn't had any stats done asx of yet but is a bit of a nippy so and so, also hasn't got a name yet. The Amber corn is an 06 baby and should be ready for breeding next year, we have named him Nugget.
All photos will be posted on the Blog and Current collection galleries soon.
Boscy our bosc monitor has now been rehomed and we have also rehomed Peugot our little leopard Gecko.
All 7 (as one escaped) of Fanta's and Stripeys hatchlings have been sold with the exception of one which we are keeping for future breeding projects, it is a male and has been named Sunkist, pictures are already on the site.

 Comments

News update

All of Fanta's hatchlings apart from my hold back and one other have had 4 feeds now and are ready to go. As for the 2 that haven't had their 4th feed i know 1 is in shed and the other is coming up for one so more than likely down to that. I only have 2of these hatchlings available now as well so doing really well.
The male Caramel that escaped has been recaught and is back in his new hopefully escape proof viv. He is none worse the ware for his escape and was actually found back in the viv he escaped from in the first place.
I have finally posted the pic of the Water dragons mating on the site and have updated a few pages on there today.
I have had to remove my Corn morph guide however this being due to a mis understanding concerning some of the picture content on it so i decided to take it off and re-design a new sheet. How long that will take i'm not sure but due to lack of time at the moment it will probably be at least a couple of months.
Any way thats all there is to report at the moment.

 Comments

Good News and not so good news.

Lets start with the good news first. The 1 hatchlling that didn't take from strike ate over night that niht so has taken it's first feed. They will all be due again on Thursday so watch this space for an update. Also i moved my solitory female Leopard Gecko in with my Established trio so hopefully she will breed with the male and produce some good babies.
Now for the not so good.
We took Fanta (mummy of the hatchlings) to the vets shortly after she took the 2nd feed and kept it down to see if what he recommended in terms of rehydrating her as although she was having luke warm baths and visully seeing her drink she still didn't appear to be getting rehydrated quick enough and i was getting severly worried. When we took her to the vets it was to keepgoing on the course of action we were taking as well as syringing a few ml of water down ourselves and he gave her a shot of saline to help the process along. He again was worried by how quick she had lost the weight and said to keep an eye on the feeding.
A few days later we gave her a feed and as usual she struck and coiled and continued to much, however the following day she brought the mouse back up. I rung the vet and took her down a day later where it was decided to euthanise her as just from the reguring of that 1 feed had undone all the work we had done and she was in a worse state than ever so so on Thursday 28th Febuary she passed away.
Since then may 2 male escape artists have got out again, we found one of them coiled up in our wardrobe but the Caramel Male is no where to be seen at the moment. I'm betting on him ending up under the stairs as whnever he has escaped before he has always been found in there be it a couple days after escaping or a month after escaping, i'm fairly certain he will turn up though.
So thats all the news at the moment. Still haven't got round to posting the pics from my previous entry on the site yet so will do that this afternoon.

 Comments

mating commences

Well hopefully the water dragons may be producing eggs this year, early this morning i caught my male and female water dragon mating so fingrs crossed there will be the pitter patter of tiny water dragons in a few months time if the mating was successful.
In other news Fanta has eaten and held down 2 feeds so hopefully she will start to improve. Her hatchlings mean while have had their first feed today with 7 of the 8 taking first time. The other has had it left in with him for a while to see if he'll eat on his own. He was having a good strike at it but just didn't take it so we will wait and see.
I managed to get a pic of the water dragons and will put it on the in blog gallery tomorrow.

 Comments

Hatching Time.

Well all 8 of Fanta's eggs have hatched and there appears to be 3 cremiscales and the reast are amelanistic but most appear to have some kind of motley going on. They actually started to hatch on the 12th and finished on the 13th so good going really, i'm just waiting for them to have their first shed and then it will be photoshot time and putting them on the website. All in all i'm relatively happy with the clutch although Fanta has since taken a turn for the worst.
She is in isolation at the moment which will hopefully help her as it appears the female that she was housed with decided to become a male without the bits and was chasing her around the tank, this i believe has contributed to her starting to reguritate her food and loose a lot of weight.
Shes now having lukewarm baths for 20 mins a day every day along with being given small food items, She was fed yesterday so it's fingers crossed she'll keep it down.
Next lukewarm bath will be later today.
Any more news about Fanta will be posted here as soon as anything happens.

 Comments

It's the season!!!

Well people, here we go again.
The Leopard Gecko breeding season has kicked off to a flying start for me with 2 of my 4 breedble females laying 2 eggs each. Spotty was first laying 2 on the 1st and dotty was second laying on the 3rd. All 4 eggs are in the incubator and are due to hatch on the 6th and 8th April respectively.
Pictures of the 4 eggs can be found on the blog gallery on the site and hopefully it won't be long before reporting on the hatching of the 8 Con snake eggs due.

This isn't the first time i have lost a snake but it the sadest loss.
We have owned Sassy for around 7-8 years getting her when she was around the 4-5yr old mark and she was our 2nd snake.
In the years we have owned her we have had over 70 hatchlings all of whom have all been healthy and lovely characters just like their mum, she has been present on many a reptile talk at the local playgroups and school holiday play schemes as well as being the first snake my 2 boys handled at the age of 1yr old. Because of her very good natured temperment she was the one snake i had who would get even the very nervous of snakes people to touch and eventually handle.
She was a very muched loved part of the family and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
The only comfort is knowing that she has gone on to a better place and that her legacy lives on in her offspring.

On Sunday 20th we were lucky enough to purchase our latest reptile. It's a Bosc Monitor approximately 8-10ins inc tail and about 1-1.5 yrs old at a guess.

We have named it Boscy from purely not knowing what sex it is so we went with an obvious name that would apply to both sexes.

Boscy is a bit tempermental in the viv but once out calms down a treat so with plenty of handling we should get it calmed down a treat. I will be adding it's pictures to the gallery later today.

 Comments

Another Surprise Clutch!!!!

Well I don't know 2 surprise clutches in the space of a month this time however it was one of my female corn snakes. Here we are at the very start of the breeding cycles getting ready for mating to take place in the spring and low and behold my zigzag cemiscale female lays 8 eggs on the 17th.
All the eggs are in incubation and appear to be doing well and there were no slugs in the clutch either. So hopefully they should be hatching around the 15th Febuary and should hopefully be motley or even zigzag in a form of amel.I will keep you posted.
As for the water dragon eggs, these have unfortunately failed but never mind hopefully next year they may have a successful mate and we may have some fertile eggs.

 Comments

So Proud!!!

I certainly have a budding Herpetologist for a son it appears.
Knowing that my eldest son (5yrs) could tell you what there needs to be in a vivarium for snakes or lizards we thought that our reptilian influence was certainly rubbing off on him. Well just imagine he then takes this information into school and builds a reptile world on a table top out of play doh, twigs, rocks, coloured paper and rubber snakes, lizards and frogs.
His teacher, very impressed then brings me into class at the end of the day to have a look at what he has produced and i'm amazed at what he has achieved. Not convinced that he created it on his own I asked his teacher, only to be told that he did do it all himself part from putting the reptiles into their places (he had 2 friends help him except he was telling them where to put them).
So really pleased with him the very next day Friday the 14th I get another surprise, his teacher had taken a photo of what he was creating and had shown the head mistress at the end of the day, the head mistress then decided that it was so good he was awarded a wizard learner certificate in a whole school assembly the next morning specifically for creating this Reptile World.
So here I am the proud mum telling you all about it and how wonderful it is that the things they learn from us they can take away and put into some kind of practise and be awarded for it.

 Comments

What a surprise.

Well what a surprise we had last night. We were just getting ready to go to bed for the night when we noticed that our female Water Dragon had made a big pile of dirt in the middle of her laying box.
Now the short version of the story up to here is that we had been waiting for them to breed all summer and with what looked like no success then at the beginning of the week the female started digging around in her laying box and looked slightly larger around the middle than normal but we weren't sure if she was gravid due to the fact breeding season was over, then low and behold last night we got to the above mentioned point.
When we took her out to have a look at her she definately appeared thinner, so we lifted out the laying box so as to look underneath it and sure enough there were signs of eggs. So we went digging in the dirt and found 5 really tiny eggs (but saying that mum isn't exactly big anyway).
They are now in incubation and if they are fertile eggs should be hatching around the middle of January next year so watch this space for more news on that.

 Comments

Names.

Hi again,
Well with all the old posts now hosted on this blog things for the new site are going well with only a couple of pages to develop before getting things moving on the publishing side of things.
In my last post i spoke about 2 of the hatchlings i was going to hold back. We have now decided which two and give them names and taken pictures. Their names are Citron and Peugot and they are a Hypo Tangerine and a normal Hypo. Their pictures have been taken but put on the new gallery ready for when it goes live.
Couglar and Shava have settled in well with Shava eating an Extra lagre mouse a week, but as of yet Couglar hasn't eaten but has managed to gain a little weight.
So fingers crossed that her appetite will return soon and then hopefully next year if shes the right weight we will have some eggs.

 Comments

New Blog for a New Site.

Hello and welcome to my new blog. I have set this up ready for when the new site goes active which will hopefully be in the near future. But as a first post lets talk about some new additions and some sad losses.
After having 5 Leopard Gecko Hatchlings in the reptile room for 3 months now we have decided that we are going to keep 2 back for our breeding project and at the moment they are looking like a boy and a girl so fingers crossed. As of yet they don't have names or any photos on line but i'm sure it won't be long. These 2 Geckos will also help replenish my Gecko colonies after sadly losing a male and a female all of a sudden. The 2 that passed away were Banana my Blizzard Phase and Herman my Hi Yellow.
As for the other new additions we have now got 2 new Royal Pythons they have been called couglar and shaver. They are male of 3yrs and a female of 18months but a good weight at just over 700grammes. We swapped 2 of our Amel Corns (Male and female) to get these. So Blotchy and Spot have now gone. Well thats it for now however i will post my older posts here as well from my old Blog so that you can see everything.

 Comments

New Geckos

Well i have had another 3 geckos hatch since i last posted. I had one of spottys hatch a couple of days ago and then i had 2 from candy hatch this morning. One looks like it might be a tangerine but i will let their colours develop a bit more.
It also looks probable that sassy might be gravid with a 2nd clutch so we will have to wait and see on that.
Then last but not least we found toffe crisp our male caramel corn on the 22nd, he was hiding inside a car cleaning kit in my under stair cupboard, but he had helped himself to 2 small mice i had left in the cupboard overnight as well and then promptly took another 2 yesterday.

 Comments

Here we go again

Well the website has been updated with a picture of Sid now being in the photo gallery and the 13 hatchlings are also on the site.
It's been a busy couple of weeks since i last posted. On the 4th August Candy laid 2 eggs and these will be due to hatch around the 8th October, i had a Gecko hatch on the 8th and was really happy about that as it was the 1st sucessful hatch from Dotty's eggs. It appears to be growing well so should be ready to go in about 5 weeks time. Site will be updated with the gecko pic shortly.
Then on the 18th we were due to go the Exeter Reptile Expo only to find on friday morning it had been cancelled, so instead we went trawling around 3 reptile shops in the somerset and dorset area looking for some new female corns to go with our caramel ad lavender males.
Well we ended up coming back with 3 new females all told , 2 lavenders one striped and one hypo, and a normal hypo. When we got home we realised that the both the males had managed to escaped again but this time i don't think we are going to find them so now i am trying to replace them. The site will be updated with pics of the new snakes shortly.

 Comments

New addition

Well we hopefully have our breeding pair of royal pythons for next year now. We purchased a male on wednesday the 1st and have called him hissing sid (i call him hissy for short), he's been named this as thats all he seems to do is hiss. We may look at getting another female but that is still in the considering stages at the moment. We have also had 13 more corns hatch hopefully this will be the last of the season but theres still a small possibility that sassy may lay another clutch. They are all amel and are all a really good size.
I will try to get some pics of hissy on the site soon along with the hatchlings, but can't make any promises at the moment as i just don't feel so good right now.

 Comments

More eggs

I know your probably getting fed up with being told everytime something lays but i find it very helpful to have it noted down somewhere. So here we go.
Yesterday Banana my female Blizzard Leopard gecko laid 2 more eggs i think that will be it for the season for her but we will have to wait and see. These eggs bring us up to a total of 15 gecko eggs in incubation, it would have been 18 if we had not lost some whilst we were away. Candy my female Abernt Tangerine is looking gravid again as well so theres a chance we may get some more from her.
And as a last note for today 2 of the amels from the 20 corn snake eggs hae turned out to be candy cane. So thats 5 different morphs from one female.

 Comments

Worth waiting for

Well we have been on a lovely holiday from the 10th to the 18th and had some one coming in to keep an eye on things with the reptiles whilst we were away, and it's just as well we did. We came home on wednesday to discover that the 20 snake eggs that were due to hatch had all hatched and we have 10 amel, 6 normal, 2 snow and 2 anerys. We also had 12 eggs laid from the mum of this batch but unfortunatly they were all slugs we also had 2 slugs from candy one of our female leopard geckos. But just the snakes hatching was great as this is the first time we have had a 100% hatch with this female. They are all just having their first shed now.
Well unfortunatly we aren't going to be able to make it to the pras breeders meeting this month due to work commitments but we are diffiatley going to the exeter reptile expo in august, hopefully we will come away with some good specimens for breeding next year.
I still haven't got round to posting a couple of pics on the site but i will try to get them on there today possibly tomorrow.
On the egg side of things Spotty my normal female leopard gecko laid 2 eggs yesterday. They are now in incubation and are due to hatch on the 23rd september.

 Comments

Eggs and more

Well what a busy couple of days i've had. We had 2 gecko eggs laid on the 28th 2 on the 29th and 2 on the 30th. So that takes us up to 16 gecko eggs in incubation with some colour morphs expected.
We still haven't found Double our lavender corn at the mo but we still have a little look now and then.
We also have a new member to the family. His name is Scotch and he is an adult male butter corn. Although he is a butter he does have some orange in him so i suspect that the amelanistic gene is coming through a little but never the less he is a butter. So hopefully we will have some nice babies from his gene pool next year

 Comments

Lost and Found

Well after completing our latest viv unit we happily continued and moved around some of collection and as such place our Lavender, Caramel, and Cremiscale corn all in the unit on Thursday (21/06) afternoon, locked up the viv and thought no more about it. Saturday came along and it was feeding day, so i went to the unit unlocked it and preceded to start looking for the Caramel and Lavender to seperate them for feeding. Coundn't find them. They had escaped sometime during the night on Friday we think.
After this shock discovery we searched the house top and bottom but couldn't find them, but for some reason i had a hench to look in the cupboard under our stairs and sure enough i found the Caramel, but still no Lavender.
To this day i still haven't found him a i am now starting to give up hope that i will find him, but as they say every cloud has a silver lining and this is no exception. The same day that we found he went missing we found an adult Butter corn for sale. We go to collect him on Saturday afternoon. This is the first of hopefully 2 butters that we will be getting as i have wanted a butter for as long as i can remember.
So fingers crossed we may well have some butter offspring in the next year or two.

 Comments

Waiting time

Well with the last lot of corn hatchlings gone and the last baby gecko to hatch reserved, i'm now playing the waiting game. We still have 1 female corn to lay and a possible 2nd clutch from another and the geckos are still going strong with some hopefully going to lay soon.
We have been busy this week though, we have just completed our 3rd viv stack with total measurements of 4ft wide, 6ft high and 2ft deep. It has 4 units in it one measuring 4ft x 2ft x 2ft, the 2nd one measuring 4ft x 2.5ft x 2ft and the last 2 measuring 2ft x 1.5ft x 2ft each. Photos of this unit will be on the photo gallery soon.
We do have another new member of the family as well, my youngest son so has 2 Fire-bellied toads has now also got a yellow-bellied toad. He does love his frogs.

 Comments

Eggs

Well what a busy couple of days, first of all yesterday my blizzard phase gecko banana laid 2 nice eggs and then only moments later one of my normal phase gecko's Dotty laid 2 eggs so we had 4 arrive at once yesterday. Then this morning i find that Candy my abberrant tangerine was preparing to lay so i thought maybe tonight or tomorrow morning, in fact an hour and a half later she's laying. There was one already laid but then i actually saw the 2nd egg come out. So thats 2 from her. The wasy things are looking i'm going to have a busy July and August with hatchlings.

 Comments

More hatchlings

Well first up i'd like to apoligise for the delay on updated my blog, i have been quite busy this week and just hadn't got round to it.
Well lets begin with our newest arrival she is a Royal Python approx 2-2.5 yrs old and currently weighing in at 564grammes. She has a lovely temperment and hopefully she will do well on feeding so that we can get her up to weight for next season. So fingers crossed we may have some baby royals next year. She was brought home on Thursday and seems to of settled well and she has been named Honey.
Next up we have the hatchlings, These hatchlings were due to hatch on the 8th but one decided to hatch early on the 7th and form there things just took off, with the last one coming out of his egg this morning. There are 14 in total 4 Anerytheristics and 10 Normals with the het for Amelanistic and some have the het for Snow. Pictures of these will be on the Available page shortly.
Well thats it now for hatchlings until July, but not for egg laying. Banana & Dotty are due any time now and Candy should be shortly after them, as her first clutch didn't do very well so hopefully the next one will be better. Spotty isn't due now until July.
Snake wise Sunny still hasn't laid but is now coming in for a shed so hopefully won't be much longer for her and Sassy (mum of the clutch that has just hatched) looks very much like she could be gravid again, but we'll see, she could lay in July or August as we have seen her being mated a few times.

 Comments

Baby gecko

Hi all,
Well there i was waiting for 14 Corn Snake eggs to hatch this week and instead i get a baby gecko hatch. It has been incubated for female so hopefully will come out that way, and it is a lovely little thing so pics will be on the site soon. Not sure if it's going to be a Normal phase or not yet so i'll wait a couple of weeks before deciding. Both mum and dad are Normal but from their last hatching there was a Normal and a hypo. This little baby wasn't due until the 13th so it's a little bit early but is doing great.

 Comments

New additions.

Well yes we have had 2 new additions to the family and another one on it's way next week.
The 2 new additions are Greenback the Fire- bellied toad and Toffee Crisp the caramel Corn snake.
Greenback belongs to my youngest son and now lives with Fire Heart his other Fire-bellied toad.
Toffee Crisp is and early 06 and is one of the best looking caramels I've seen, lovely gold caramelly colour. He's a boy so yes it makes us boy heavy but we aren't intending to use Toffee or Double for maybe a year or two.
Pictures of these two new additions will be placed in the photo gallery soon.
Our other new addition is Honey we collect her on Thursday and she is a lovely Female Royal Python. She will be ready to breed next year as long as we have got a male the right weight for her. So fingers crossed we will have the start of our royal breeding project.

 Comments

More eggs.

As i said earlier in my other post Spot was laying her eggs, well she has finally finished and there are 13 in total taking my Corn snake egg total to 47 so far with one more female to lay and other one looking gravid. So all good.

 Comments

Yippee!!!

My female Blizzard phase Leopard Gecko laid a single egg on saturday 26th May. It's looking good and mum is doing fine. This was her first egg of the season so there should be more on the way.Dad is Herman he's a hi yellow het tang het albino poss het lavender so what the baby will be we aren't sure.
As i type this post my abberrant tangerine female is also preparing to lay she has dug a nice big hole and is constantly sat in it so hopefully by the end of the day i should have an egg or two from her.
Other news is that Spot, one of my female amelanistic corns is currently laying her eggs so i will have some more in incubation before the day is out.
There will be some pics of tria and scampi added to the photo gallery today as well and the new eggs so don't forget to check the site for those.

 Comments
